COVID Death Toll Soars Past 91,000 in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The total death toll from the coronavirus infection in Iran exceeded 91,000 on Monday as the county registered one of the highest daily death rates in recent weeks.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Monday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari put the death toll from the coronavirus in Iran at 91,407, saying the disease has taken the lives of 411 patients over the past 24 hours.
She also noted that at least 3,404,500 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country.
The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 3,940,700 following the detection of 37,189 new cases since Sunday noon, the spokeswoman added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,607 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 26.03 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 10.28 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 199 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.24 million.
